Job Summary

The Construction Estimator II is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects by analyzing project plans, specifications, and other relevant data. This mid-level role requires a strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, labor costs, and vendor pricing to provide competitive and profitable estimates.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Review project plans, specifications, and contracts to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
• Analyze historical data and market trends to ensure accurate pricing and cost projections.
• Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost breakdowns for labor, materials, and equipment.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to clarify project details and ensure accuracy in estimates.
• Identify potential risks and cost-saving opportunities in project proposals.
• Assist in preparing bid proposals, including schedules and scope clarifications.
• Maintain and update estimating databases, cost libraries, and unit price records.
• Support contract negotiations by providing detailed cost breakdowns and justifications.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed.

Education & Additional Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 3 years of commercial construction estimating or related experience with a mechanical, electrical, or plumbing contractor, preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years’ commercial preconstruction experience with a General Contractor preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Microsoft Office, On-screen Takeoff, and Bluebeam software).
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and labor costs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
